37 States Now Give Out Free Government Cell Phones

Economic times are tough and it’s almost impossible to land a job if a person doesn’t have a phone to call employers.

(PRWEB) September 20, 2011

According to FreeGovernmentCellPhones.net, the state of Maine just became the 37th state (plus Washington, DC and Puerto Rico) in which free cell phones and free monthly minutes are offered to financially disadvantaged residents.

“This is great news for the needy in Maine,” said Mark Henry, Editor at FreeGovernmentCellPhones.net. “Economic times are tough and it’s almost impossible to land a job if you don’t have a phone to call potential employers. So Lifeline is going to help a lot of people get back to work.”

Although the program’s official name is Lifeline Assistance, phone companies offer it under their own unique brand names. But no matter what it’s called, the free government cell phone program is rapidly spreading across the country.

Lifeline rules vary from state to state, but generally say that one can qualify for a free cell phone and up to 250 free monthly minutes if they receive benefits from any of a wide range of government assistance programs, such as Medicaid, Food Stamps, Section 8 Housing and SSI, or if their household income is less than 135%-150% of the poverty level.

It’s a federally-mandated program funded by the Universal Service Fund, which adds a small fee — usually no more than a few cents and rarely more than a few dollars — to most everyone’s phone bill each month.

“Lifeline is an outstanding program that’s now helping eight million lower income Americans in 37 states, Washington, DC and Puerto Rico,” Henry added, “but we won’t be satisfied until it’s available for those who need it in every state.”

The government phones are available in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Note that California and Oklahoma are nearly free, charging just one dollar per month for the phone.

The biggest government phone companies are Tracfone’s Safelink Wireless, Virgin Mobile’s Assurance Wireless and Nexus Communication’s ReachOut Wireless. Smaller players include Conexion, i-Wireless, Life Wireless, StandUp Wireless, Terracom Wireless, Yourtel Wireless, Tag Mobile and Wireless for Hope. Some states have just one company participating in the program, and others have several.

For a complete list of participating states, their specific eligibility requirements and program features go to the Free Cell Phones by State page of FreeGovernmentCellPhones.net.

Lifeline Assistance is a government-supported program that provides free cell phones and minutes to millions of needy Americans.

FreeGovernmentCellPhones.net is the leading authority on the Lifeline program. It is a one-stop source for information on the program nationwide.

A free reverse phone directory is more or less similar to a normal telephone directory offering details regarding a telephone user. A reverse phone directory differs from the normal telephone directory in that, here customers search the directory with telephone numbers as the search item to get key information such as the name and address of the telephone user. This is just the reverse of the popular name-based phone number searching in normal telephone directories. Hence the name reverse phone directory.

Today a number of free reverse phone directory services are available for users, with the majority of them offering their services online. Almost all free reverse phone directories allow their customers to search details regarding a telephone number by just entering the area code and the telephone number as the inputs. These directory services then search their database with the users input number and instantly provide clients with various details such as name and street address of the telephone owner, the name of phone carrier provider, and whether the number is a landline number or a wireless number.

The benefits of using such reverse phone directories vary according to the needs. As most free reverse phone directory service providers keep their clients searches private and confidential, users can search for personal information regarding telephone numbers without having to reveal their identity. These free reverse phone directories provide information regarding the source of threatening and harassing phone calls one may have received. You can also locate those anti-social characters, who play pranks on you over the phone. Moreover, you can find details about unknown numbers on your telephone bill and obtain information on numbers stored on your caller ID phone.

Most of these free reverse phone directory services get their data from government and public documents, demographic information, from periodicals and magazines, and also from third parties. With an increasing number of free reverse phone directory services now offering online services with customization to specific regions and states, users now have easier and free access to the information they require.

Even though it is the commercial reverse phone directory service providers who give more detailed information, the basic details provided by free reverse phone directories are sufficient to obtain the required information about a person or business firm. Although most reverse phone directory services provide accurate information, it is wiser to double check the identity of retrieved information such as personal names as there may be people with identical names residing in the same area or home. So a detailed personal inquiry can help you a great deal, in case you may have to take legal action in cases regarding telephone misuse.

New Generation Phone Lookup Website Offers a Free All-In-One Service

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) May 22, 2010

PhoneLookup.com (http://www.phonelookup.com) today announced the launch of a free service for consumers and administrative agencies looking to investigate nuisance calls or track down the owners of telephone numbers.

Traditionally, websites have offered separate services focusing either on address lookups or offering reverse phone lookups. This made it expensive and time-consuming to find details for phone numbers or people. Once the name and address was given for the number, users would then have to go to a traditional directory to cross-reference the information. Or to a people finder service to search by name.

Asked to comment on the new service, Randy Banks from PhoneLookup.com said:

” It is not just consumers who use the service. There are many situations where the need arises for a quick search to find out details about a person. When similar services were first launched they were focused on one just one kind of search. What we have done at PhoneLookup.com is to respond to consumer demand for an all-in-one search. Using the latest search technology we have built a fast, intuitive website that can be used to search by number, name or address in seconds. “

Despite the fact that consumers have more tools and legislation at their disposal, nuisance calls continue to be a major problem. The rise in the use of social networks has also seen thousands of people giving out personal information to other users, without realising how many people it is visible to. While these websites do their best to warn customers that they should never give out personal details, it is surprising just how many individuals are prepared to give away their information. As stated by Randy Banks

“The integration of technology has made information accessible to everyone, but the means of getting that information has not been as easy as it should have been. It seems obvious that if you are doing a search for a phone number, you should also be able to search for addresses or by name on the same site. Why should people pay for the information when they can get it for free at PhoneLookup.com “

There is also a positive use for this service. People are able to get in touch with friends and family they may have lost touch with years ago. People now move more frequently, change email addresses or change names when they get married. It can be difficult to track them down as not everyone is listed in the phone directories or uses a social network. Having just one piece of the puzzle – a name, address or phone number – you are able to get the rest of the necessary information to find that person.

If you’d like more information about the Phone Lookup service, please email Randy Banks at webmaster(at)phonelookup(dot)com

A free cell phone directory-can help in finding a cell phone number by entering a functioning cellular phone number. Generally cellular telephone numbers end up in a free phone directory, if you registered your numerical digits in a regular phone book then your number becomes pubic and anyone can look you up for free.

There are many websites offering free directory services that can help find names and numbers.

There are basically two types of directories to help find digits, a reverse phone number look up and a typical Mobile Phone Listings Directory.

With these directories you would need to enter in the name of the person or the numerical digits of the individual.

Try using Google, M-S-N, Yahoo or any other top search engine; they are a great tool for helping out with look ups. Many mobile phone directories are owned and operated by individual companies, which are not connected to any phone companies.

These directories simply gather the available information around cellular phones, as well as the users, which they then forward to those who are searching for the information.

In some countries these directories are made available directly from the phone service provider at no cost to the cell phone user.

Phone Directory by Name Search

A free cellular phone directory by a name search will help an individual in finding a telephone number, only if it has been made public on social networking sites or other on-line profiles.

In order to use this type of directory all one has to do is enter in the name of the person whose number they are trying to find, and the cell phone directory will return the results if the information is available to them.

The more information that one can provide such as a physical address, email address or other information, the easier it will be for the directory to return relevant information.

Phone Directory by Number Search In some cases one might have to do a search by using the mobile phone number. This is called a reverse cell phone look up, and it can help individuals to find the name and address associated with the cell phone number.

Again, free on-line information can be achieved from a free cell phone directory. Doing a reverse number search can be helpful in stopping a telemarketer from annoying you, or a caller who has made threatening remarks.

Not knowing who’s on the line can be a little intimidating and scary not only to the person receiving the call, but also those who answer the phone such as friends and family who are innocent by standards.
